DESCENDENTS OF PETER AND ELIZABETH WORTHINGTON: - gr gr grandparents:

Peter Worthington b. 12 Aug 1816, d.25 May 1887, married Elizabeth Close b.1821 Pemberton, d.11 Apr 1898. They married 15 Mar 1846 in The Church of Upholland.

Peter worked as a coalminer all his life till he died of pneumonia at the age of 70. He was born in Standish and lived in various parts of the Wigan area, working in different mines. He lived in Crook, Shevington, Pemberton, Crawford Village Upholland, and finally in Hindley where he died.

Elizabeth died in Oldham at the age of 77, at 4 Hamilton St, Chadderton. She moved to live with her son Samuel, following the death of Peter, and was bought back to be buried with her husband and other family members in Hindley Cemetry, Wigan Road, Hindley, Nr. Wigan.

Peter and Elizabeth had twelve children that we know of, found on the censuses.

Samuel (youngest child and our great grandfather, born 17th Dec 1864 Upholland, died Sept 8 1947 in Southport, and buried in Southport.

Adopted daughter ANN, also b. Shevington 1860, like Mary. - trying to find more details, as she is down as grandaughter on 1861/1871, and as adopted daughter on 1881.
