"Welcome to our Worthington Ancestors Site
We hope you will enjoy browsing through, and will find it of interest especially if you are a Worthington!
We are sisters Julie and Wendy Worthington and were born in Southport Merseyside. We have researched into our family's history over the past few years, following discovery of Eddie Worthington’s Site, ‘My Worthington Heritage’, which we discovered whilst browsing on the internet at AOL’s Ancestory Features which linked us to his site. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Eddie for helping us and guiding us in the right direction with our research. We have since met on several occasions, and has been great to find a modern day connection to Eddie and Liz and their family.
As we were fortunate enough to know of our great grandparents, and where they were buried, we were able to work out dates etc., and apply for our great grandfathers birth certificate, and were delighted to link into Eddie’s family tree through Peter Worthington, our great great grandfather, who happened to be the brother of Eddies’ great great grandfather William Worthington. We were even more excited to discover that the lineage back goes to Robert de Worthington, being our 24th great grandfather b.circ 1147.
It has been a remarkable discovery for us to find such a heritage for which we are extremely proud of. It also meant a lot to us, as we are the only girls and have no brothers to carry on the name of Worthington, so this line of Worthington’s ends.
Please look at Eddies site. It is full of interesting information and features. It shows the family tree dating back to 1147. His address is: www.worthington.moonfruit.com.
He has researched back many generations, and links into a book written my Philip M Worthington, entitled The Worthington Families of Medieval England. His site also provides many links to help you with your research.
The following pages show our family line down from Peter and Elizabeth Worthington (gr.gr. grandparents), plus their children and subsequent families. You never know, you may find a modern day connection to our tree! You will see that they all originate from the Wigan area.
We hope you enjoy the information we have put on the site so far. It is still in the early stages, and there is plenty of research still to be done. You may be researching some of the other families names that we have researched into, that are connected to our family, and on the maternal sides.
Please feel free to leave a message/comments about the site, or you can e-mail us direct on either of the following addresses:-
Thankyou, and good luck with your research.
